Ms. Kent's superb dancing, her in-depth teaching techniques, and her wide knowledge of dance have earned her the respect of dancers and ethnographers world-wide. She has spent many years working and researching in Egypt and is most generous with sharing her knowledge with fellow dancers, dance enthusiasts, dance educators, anthropologists, and historians. Her courses have been presented in variety of settings, from universities to dance studios. Sahra's methods bestow appreciation and understanding of Egyptian dance, as well as authentic techniques.

"Journey through Egypt - 1" Intensive Workshop weekend with Certification JtE-1 presents an overview of the Dance Zones of Egypt with attention paid to dance steps and movement, posture and costume recognition, dance zone geographical location, historical consideration and cultural diffusion. Multi-media approach includes learning through viewing films, lecture, study materials, trying on costumes, and experiencing the dance. 20-Hour Intensive Workshop includes dance and ritual movement of Cairo, Nubia, Ghawazee, Delta, Suez Canal, Bedouin groups, Siwa, Saidi region, and pan-Egyptian Zeffah, Zar and others. Class is open to dancers, anthropologists, historians, costume vendors and interested persons, female and male. Includes free notebook, study materials, map, DVD and CD. Learn about the Dance of Egypt from a deeper perspective. If you are not just a tourist, if you are hungry to understand, if you don't want to simply learn another choreography, this may be the start of your journey. Certificate upon completion.

Class schedule:

We will do 4 hrs Friday night 7 - 11 PM, 10 hrs Saturday 10am-7pm (minus 1 hour for lunch = 8 hrs) dinner together at 7, then 2 hours for zar 8-10 PM, 6 hours on Sunday 10am-5pm (minus 1 hour for lunch = 6 hr).

I would suggest using the Microtel Inns and Suites at 3424 Sorrento Dr, Mesquite TX 75150.  The internet rates today 4/12/10 are $59.95 + tax. This hotel is 2.2 miles from the studio. Breakfast:{ Waffles, Muffins, Juice, Coffee, Tea} 

Lunch on Sat and Sun is included in the cost and provided by Jason's deli. Pick a meal for each day.

Dinner Saturday night is included in the cost and will be catered to the studio.
